Week 2
In week 2, we gathered on campus. At our first meeting, Mr. Charles gave a briefing about the Game Studies module. Mr. Charles explained that we would be working on a group project. In the group project, we are asked to make a game. Apart from that, we were also briefed on the existing exercises and there were 5 of them. The first exercise was an exercise regarding our game journey. And here is my presentation.

Week 3
In week 3, we were asked to form groups of 5-6 people. I was in a group with 3 of my friends from BDCM and 1 other person from the computer science department. I feel that the formation of our group is very balanced because it is divided between those who do the design and coding for the game. In week 3, we were asked to form groups of 5-6 people. I was in a group with 3 of my friends from BDCM and 1 other person from the computer science department. I feel that the formation of our group is very balanced because it is divided between those who do the design and coding for the game. We discussed what game we should make. And finally came the inspiration from a meme related to milk and a father. We ended up discussing problem statements, writing important things like the ideas we collected and writing proposals. Mr. Charles gave us feedback in the form of questions like, what makes our game interesting and what makes it special.

Week 4-7
In these weeks, we just divide the tasks and work on the parts that have been divided. Kian will do the coding for the game and the rest of us will start designing the characters and assets in the game. Don't forget, Esther reminded us to start doing group exercises.

Week 9
This week we had a meeting with Mr. Charles to do our first playtesting. We provide the assets that we have prepared. We received some feedback.

Week 10-14
These weeks, we just need to finish the rest of the exercises that haven't been done. Esther again reminded us to work on it so she could edit it and upload it to Youtube. Apart from that, there is a group document that needs to be filled in and I will help fill it out. And another thing is Kian has done another playtest with his friends and the result is some positive feedback.

Here are some photos that I documented during our group work.

REFLECTIONS

Game studies is one of the modules that I look forward to in semester 3. What's interesting is that we do it in groups. Doing groupwork has its pluses and minuses. I like being able to work with my group mates. They all work very hard and I am very grateful for that. I was also greatly helped by Esther, who tried to make the timeline work correctly so that we would not delay submissions. Thanks to Mr. Charles has also given us guidance and feedback during this module. This module is a very interesting module and I am happy to learn it.
