EXERCISES

Week 1 :

The Bezier Game is a new thing for me because this game trains us to master the pen tool. At first it seems very easy but will get more challenging. By playing this game, I am grateful that I have been able to learn the basic pen tool skills and I hope to be able to master them in the future.

It is very interesting to create my first e-portfolio blog. I can customize it and put all my work there. I hope I will be able to make more interesting works on my blog so that people can explore my works.

We were asked to create our own Pinterest and Behance account and here is the link:

Figure 1.3 Behance Account

We were asked to pick 3 favourite graphic design work from Pinterest. The first one is this design.  The thing I love about this work is about how all of the elements match each other so well. The yellow background and the stars elements make the object in the middle give out valuable meaning. And it is also eye-catching to me.

What from the second design is the pastel color combination on this artwork. This artwork feels so light yet it has such good aesthetic value. And I love how it combines the flowers on half of its head and it has petals that surround it. The flowers seem to represent what's going on in its head and it fits perfectly with what's written at the bottom of this artwork, "what's inside

This art looks so cute. The bubbly text looks really fun. The color palette fits perfectly with the original milkshake like what we usually see. And I think this piece of art has managed to convey its message in advertising milkshakes.

Week 3 : Exercise

On week 3, Mr. Martin demonstrated how to mask a layer in Adobe Photoshop and this is how mine turns out.

Week 4 : Exercise

On week 4, we learned how to add solid color, adjust the image by using saturation, brightness, level, etc. And this is how it turns out.

Week 5 : Exercise

On week 5, we were asked to put Shazam on the heart mansion using some tools. Firstly, I used the quick selection tools and then create a mask and then I copied it and pasted it on heart mansion. After that I adjust the Shazam size to fit on the heart mansion.

And then I used the match color tool under the image tool and used the image adjustment like the hue/ saturation and brightness/ contrast.

Figure 2.2 Progress 2

After that, I copied and pasted the Shazam and rotate it by adding "-" at the H rotate tool to make it upside down, the purpose is to create the Shazam's shadow.

Figure 2.3 Progress 3

And then I use the gaussian blur effect for the shadow to make it even real.

Figure 2.4 Progress 4

This is for the final result for my Shazam exercise.

And then I repeated the same step for my own reflection, this is the final result for my own reflection on heart mansion.

Week 7 : Exercise Part 2

And then we have to do the recoloring black and white image part 2, the difference is that we need to use preference image that suits the black and white. Firstly we need to pick out the color from the references image by using the eyedropper tool and then create a line using the brush tool. After that we use the quick selection tool to select the hair and create a mask. To tidy the mask, we go to properties and then click select and mask. And then after that add solid color and select the masked layer earlier and replace the layer.

And then we can select soft light.

And then just repeat the same step.

REFLECTIONS

Of all the exercises I've done, I like the black and white picture recoloring exercise the most. I found it very fun like going back in time where I learned to color, only this exercise was done more advanced and digitally.
I found the exercises given are very useful and help me in doing my assignments. The exercise provided gave me practice and knowledge to be able to complete the existing tasks. I feel that without demos and tutorials like this exercise I will have a hard time doing assignments.

In addition, I also want to thank Mr. Martin who has been willingly to teach patiently, clear and caring. The knowledge given by him really changed me, who at first didn't know how to use the Adobe application, became quite understanding in using it.
I hope that in the future I can approve in a better direction so that the knowledge that has been given is not a waste.
