Application Design II
Task 1 : App Design 1 Self-Evaluation
and Reflection
TASK
Instructions
Write self-evaluation and reflection based on their mobile application design 1 final project.
Self-Evaluation
Last semester, we were asked to redesign any app to make it better. We are
given the option to choose any application. I chose an application called 'BCA
Mobile'. I realized that I might be able to make it better. I realize
there are still some shortcomings in my design in Application Design
I.
Below is the Figma file of my last semester's work
Difficulties and Limitations
BCA Mobile actually has a lot of features. But in my opinion, to be able to put it in one application is a bit difficult. Categorizing existing features will take up a lot of space and will require more pages. The user's desire is to be able to carry out his goals quickly and practically. But then, Mr. Shamsul said that we only need to create one main action and I choose; to make transfers and transactions. Then I also added other features that are no less important such as checking balances and transaction history.

Improvements
-
Transfer Page No. 2
On this second Transfer page, I feel the dropdown option is in an awkward position. So what I did was change the shape of its dropdown options from a partial one to a full square. Then I also added an arrow to the top to indicate that there is an option currently open from the bank options.

BCA Reward Page
For the BCA Reward page, I didn't change anything, but I added a circle indicating that the user has reached a point. I then added a notification circle next to the words "Redeem Points" to indicate there are rewards that users can redeem, I also added an underscore to make it look like a clickable button. The last addition is the chosen date feature so that users can track the point points they have ever earned.

- Success Transfer Page
For this page, I only made minor changes. In my opinion, the same writing color does not emphasize the results of the actions that users do. So what I did was change the color of the words "has been transferred to" from black to blue.

Previously, after the on boarding page, a login or sign up option will immediately appear. Then for this exercise, I added a more complete registration page.

REFLECTIONS
Reflecting on the task of improving a previous app design, I found the process to be both challenging and rewarding. On the one hand, it was difficult to critique and make changes to something that someone had already put time and effort into creating. However, on the other hand, it was a great opportunity to exercise my creative and problem-solving skills.
During the task, I had to consider not only the app's aesthetics but also its functionality and user experience. I had to think about how users would interact with the app, what features were essential, and how to improve upon the previous design.
Through this process, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of user-centered design. I realized that designing an app was not just about making it look nice but also ensuring that it was easy to use and met the needs of its intended audience. Moreover, I learned how even small changes can have a significant impact on the app's overall effectiveness.
Overall, this task was an excellent opportunity to put my skills to the test and learn more about the design process. It helped me see that design is a constant process of iteration and improvement, and there's always room to make something better.
